Descendientes de Jose Palacios Petalos 2007  DESCENDIENTES DE JOSE PALACIOS PETALOS 2007
Press darling Alvaro Palacios' legend is built on the stunning wines he has crafted from the Priorat and Bierzo in Spain's farthest reaches. Palacios' latest project features another rising star -- the obscure Mencía grape. Perched on steep hillsides in the Northwest corner of Spain, the roots of this forgotten black grape believed to be a cousin of Cabernet Franc are deeply set into unique, mineral-laden soils. With long contact with the lees and a yield less than one ton per acre from these 60- to 100 year-old vines, the resulting wine is the most concentrated expression of this variety and unique to Bierzo.
